Update: Restoring Sarasota

 

Restoring the City of Sarasota remains a top priority. While significant steps have been made behind the scenes, the City hears the community's concerns with a lack of visible progress.

 

Sarasota is not alone. At this time, the City of Sarasota is one of dozens of municipalities awaiting the obligation of both federal and state funds before the mobilization of workers for restoration projects can begin. While many projects are ready to start with required permits and contracts secured, moving forward prior to federal and state obligation of funding will jeopardize millions in funding eligible for financial reimbursement. The time to receive the notice of obligation for each of these projects separately is unpredictable and at FEMA's discretion. The City must continue to be patient while the federal process works its way to the end.
