Restoration work underway at Bayfront Park & Whitaker Gateway Park

Construction and demolition work is beginning at two of our coastal parks to address significant damage caused by Hurricanes Helene and Milton.
 
Crews mobilized Thursday, Nov. 20 at Whitaker Gateway Park to begin repairs to the seawall & sidewalks and install new sod. At Bayfront Park, crews mobilized Tuesday, Nov. 25  to begin sidewalk and sod replacement, shoreline restoration, and street sign repairs.
 
Please note: Recovery work on the Whitaker Gateway Park pier is expected to begin in late 2026.
 
Residents can expect to see more visible progress being made on hurricane recovery projects throughout 2026 as efforts shift from the required permitting approval process to rebuilding.
