New transportation amenities for cyclists are now available at the corner of Ringling Boulevard and S. School Avenue. This micromobility hub is the first of five City pilot program locations planned for completion in the coming months.
Adjacent to protected bike lanes and just west of The Legacy Trail, the hub offers new bike racks and a bike repair kiosk, including an air pump and a QR code for accessing repair instructions. Amenities are planned for installation at four other hubs:
The hub sites were identified based on community need and part of a data-driven process to carry out the City’s Transportation Master Plan, Sarasota in Motion.
Each hub features a different fruit associated with the location’s historic street name. Ringling Boulevard was originally platted as “Strawberry Avenue”, so the first hub on Ringling features strawberries.
Funding for this pilot micromobility program has been provided to the City by a grant from the U.S. Department of Energy.
