New City Cultural Heritage Exhibit features local history

June 16, 2026

The latest edition of the City’s Cultural Heritage Exhibit, “Echoes of Sarasota,” is now on display.

The community is invited to explore local history through art with 16 works at City Hall and three at Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall. The installation is presented by the City in partnership with Thomsen Fine Art, and supporting artwork is provided by Arts Advocates.

Covering over 1,000 years of regional history, the collection features captivating mural-size works by Frank Hopper and Regan Dunnick and highlights people, places, and traditions that have shaped Sarasota’s legacy.

This free exhibit comes as communities around the country reflect on their shared heritage in recognition of America’s 250th anniversary.

Stay tuned for more this summer and fall! An “Echoes of Sarasota” opening reception and educational panels are in the works.
