National Crime Victims’ Rights Week is a time-honored recognition that unites many in acknowledgement and support of crime victims. This year marks the 45th anniversary of the national observance, which brings to mind the 32,000+ laws and many systems and victim services programs across the nation that define and protect victims’ rights.
This morning, the City Commission recognized the week of April 19–25, 2026 as National Crime Victims’ Rights Week, reaffirming its commitment to the broader community that supports and serves crime victims and survivors. The Sarasota Police Victim Advocate Coordinator received the proclamation on behalf of the Sarasota County Victim Advisory Council.
