After a nationwide search City Engineer Nikesh Patel has been selected as the City of Sarasota's next Public Works Director.
Nikesh Patel is a consummate professional in the Public Works field with over 20 years of industry experience and has led efforts of significant benefit to the community, including the renourishment of Lido Beach and the City’s award-winning Smart City Initiative.
In his new role, Nikesh will lead the Public Works Department in providing essential services to City residents, modernizing infrastructure, and building a more resilient Sarasota.
Nikesh will take the reins of the Public Works Department Aug. 20, with current Public Works Director Doug Jeffcoat remaining in the position briefly for a smooth transition until his well-earned retirement on Sept. 2 after 30 years of dedicated service to our City, including serving as Interim City Manager.
