Residents traveling John Ringling Causeway this week may notice some changes in the median.

As the Florida Department of Transportation prepares to begin work on significant improvements to the Causeway between Sunset Dr. and Bird Key Dr. after the new year, the City saved 39 palm trees within the planned construction zone. The trees, including cabbage, ribbon, date, and thatch palms, were relocated overnight to the west end of the John Ringling Causeway near the entrance to St. Armands Circle.

Kudos to the problem-solvers in Public Works and Parks & Recreation Departments who orchestrated the successful effort to save over 3 dozen trees.
