Local artist Truman Adams takes a contemporary approach to a classical subject with his mural Amphitrite, painted on the west-facing wall of a city-owned lift station. Visible from US-41, the goddess of the sea is represented as a Greek sculpture surrounded by coral. In ancient Greek mythology, Amphitrite is the queen of the sea, the wife of Poseidon and the mother of fish and dolphins. Adams describes his design as a mixture of modern street art elements and classical art styles.
