Opportunities for Artists

Personaje I by Ivan Rojas

The City of Sarasota Public Art Program offers a range of opportunities for artists to contribute to the city’s vibrant visual landscape. These include Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Requests for Qualifications (RFQs), and other Calls for Artists tied to City-led and private development projects. When available, current opportunities will be listed below.

Artists who are part of the City’s pre-qualified Artists Roster are prioritized for certain commissions and may also be connected with private developers fulfilling the public art requirement outlined in the City’s Zoning Code. Developers seeking to integrate public art into their projects are encouraged to select from the roster when identifying potential artist partners.

We welcome artists at all stages of their careers and across disciplines to engage with Sarasota’s evolving collection. If no opportunities are currently open, please check back or subscribe to our newsletter to stay connected and aware of future projects.

Call for Walls

The Call for Walls program supports the creation of murals on highly visible walls located on private property throughout the city. Artists may put forward a proposal for consideration by partnering with an eligible property owner and identifying a potential site. Visit the Call for Walls page to learn more about program requirements and the application process.

Artists Roster

The City of Sarasota Public Art Artist Roster is currently closed to new submissions.

The next open call for the Artist Roster is anticipated in late 2026. When the application reopens, the opportunity will be publicly advertised through this website and the Public Art Program’s mailing list.

Artists who would like to be notified when the roster reopens are encouraged to join the Public Art Program’s email list.
