Jennifer Jorgensen served as Interim City Manager for the City of Sarasota from March 7, 2026, through May 29, 2026, following her selection by the Sarasota City Commission. During her tenure, she provided steady leadership and operational continuity for the organization throughout a significant period of transition. Effective May 29, 2026, Jennifer transitioned to the role of Interim Deputy City Manager, where she will continue to serve until the position is filled permanently.
Jennifer has over 15 years of leadership and legal experience in government, corporate affairs, and legislative advocacy. As Interim Deputy City Manager, Jennifer provides steady leadership and operational continuity for the City of Sarasota during this transition period.
Jennifer also serves as the City’s Director of Governmental Affairs, where she leads federal and state legislative strategies and provides executive oversight for the Purchasing, Special Events, and Grants divisions. Her background includes management roles at The Walt Disney Company, where she oversaw global vendor strategies and multi-million-dollar contract negotiations for the Disney Institute and technology sectors.
Earlier in her career, Jennifer served as Legal Counsel for the Nebraska Association of School Boards, where she was a registered lobbyist and successfully drafted state legislation. She holds a Juris Doctor (with Distinction) from the University of Nebraska College of Law and a B.A. from the University of Minnesota. A licensed attorney, Jennifer is recognized for her ability to navigate complex regulatory environments while fostering strong relationships with the City Commission, staff, and the Sarasota community.
