The Office administers the City of Sarasota's Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), City Neighborhood Stabilization Programs II and III, and functions as a cooperative effort of the City of Sarasota and Sarasota County government and serves residents throughout Sarasota County, including the cities of Sarasota, North Port and Venice, using Federal HOME Investment Partnerships Program funds and State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) funds.
Notice of Funding Availability
The Sarasota Consortium, a partnership between the City of Sarasota and Sarasota County, was awarded Federal HOME Investment Partnerships Program American Rescue Plan (HOME-ARP) funding. Funds were allocated to entitlement communities affected by the economic downturn between 2020-2022. The intent of this funding is to assist qualifying populations with special needs who were adversely affected by the economy during this period.
The amount of funding available is $1,129,161.60. Eligible applicants are non-profit housing developers whose mission is to develop housing that is affordable to individuals or families whose household income does not exceed 50% of the area median income. Housing may be new construction or existing housing that will be rehabilitated. All funds must be used for the benefit of qualifying populations:
- Homeless
- At Risk of Homeless
- Fleeing Domestic Violence, Stalking or Trafficking
- Other Populations where Assistance would Prevent Homelessness
- Veterans that Meet One of the Preceding Criteria
Eligible projects will be located in Sarasota County and will provide housing to one of the qualifying populations listed above. Applications can be found on the OHCD webpage at the City of Sarasota website at www.sarasotafl.gov. Applications should be submitted electronically to HOMEARPApplications@sarasotafl.gov and will be accepted between September 15, 2025 until October 10, 2025 at 5 PM.
