The City is governed by a "Commission-Manager" form of government. There are five City Commissioners. The City Commission meets the first and third Monday of each month at 9am in City Hall. The public is welcome.

City Attorney

The City Attorney is the legal advisor to the City Commission, Advisory Boards and committees, and to the City administration and departments.

City Auditor & Clerk

The Office of the City Auditor and Clerk provides exceptional service to citizens and staff, including preparing Commission Agendas, Records Management, Internal Audits, Commission Elections, Codification of City ordinances, processing land development applications.

City Manager

The City Manager serves as the City's Chief Administrator responsible to the City Commission. The City Manager directs and manages the functions of the City.

Development Services

Development Services is comprised of Building & Permitting, Code Compliance, Development Applications & Review, Flood Information, Local Business Tax, Tree Protection, Zoning and Vacation Rentals.

Financial Administration

The City of Sarasota's Financial Administration provides essential services, from utility billing to budgets to detailed financial reports and policies.

Human Resources

The City of Sarasota's Human Resources Department fosters a supportive, inclusive environment, offering a wide range of services to employees, including benefits, training, conflict resolution, and recruitment as well as risk management and ADA compliance.

Information Technology

Handles all aspects of technology supporting commission goals, facilitates department requirements, enable and connect the City of Sarasota staff and residents to information

Office of Housing and Community Development

Administers housing programs such as City Neighborhood Stabilization Programs, State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP), Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) for the City of Sarasota
