One Stop Shop Call for Artists

 

The Call for Artists for the City of Sarasota’s One Stop Shop public art commission is now closed. We received more than 150 submissions, and we are deeply grateful for the high‑quality, thoughtful proposals submitted by artists from across the region and beyond.

All submissions are now undergoing eligibility review and scoring by the stakeholder jury in accordance with the published process and timeline.

Project Overview

The City of Sarasota is commissioning a new site‑specific public art installation for the One Stop Shop at 1575 Second Street, a highly active civic building serving thousands of residents, businesses, contractors, and visitors each year. The project seeks innovative, durable exterior artwork that complements the building’s modernist architectural character and enhances the surrounding urban environment.

Project Budget

Up to $100,000, inclusive of design, engineering, fabrication, installation, lighting integration, travel, and all project‑related expenses.

Eligibility

Open to professional artists and artist teams with experience delivering public art projects of similar scale.

Current Phase: Submission Review

The stakeholder jury is now evaluating all eligible submissions to select three finalists who will advance to the public feedback and presentation stages.

Timeline

  • July 1 – August 31, 2026 — Call open
  • September 1 – September 27, 2026 — Stakeholder jury evaluates submissions and shortlists three finalists
  • October 1 – October 15, 2026 — Public feedback period for finalists
  • November 4, 2026 at 1:30 PM — Finalist presentations and Public Art Committee selection of artist
