City Commission recognizes National Family Caregivers Month

Nov. 2, 2026

Across Florida, approximately 4.3 million family caregivers help older parents, spouses, and other loved ones live independently in their homes and communities while avoiding costly care. These caretakers provide billions of hours of support each year, often while balancing work and family responsibilities and facing significant financial, emotional, and physical challenges.

This morning, the City Commission recognized November 2026 as National Family Caregivers Month, acknowledging family caregivers’ sacrifice and support, and encouraging gratitude for their vital contributions. Community members from AARP, ActivAge, Senior Friendship Centers, and Town Square Sarasota joined to receive the recognition.
