Downtown Improvement District Hosts Fresh Fridays, November 6th, Featuring a digital mural by Ringling College of Art and Design students
SARASOTA, FLORIDA (October 26, 2026) — Downtown Sarasota will become a canvas for creativity on Friday, November 6, as Fresh Fridays presents Beyond the Canvas: A Celebration of the Arts. The free, family-friendly event invites the community to experience Sarasota’s vibrant arts scene through local artists, a digital art projection, live music, local vendors, and interactive experiences throughout downtown.
Taking place from 7 to 10 p.m. along North Palm Avenue, Beyond the Canvas celebrates local artists and creative talents that help make Sarasota unique. From discovering local artwork to enjoying live entertainment with friends and family, the evening offers an opportunity for residents and visitors to come together and experience downtown in a new way.
A highlight of the evening will be a digital mural designed by students from Ringling College of Art and Design in collaboration with the City of Sarasota’s Public Art Program. Projected onto the North Palm Avenue Parking Garage, the artwork will transform the building into a large-scale canvas, bringing student creativity into the downtown streetscape. The installation highlights the connection between art, technology, and public spaces while allowing the community to experience the work of Sarasota’s emerging artists.
Live music will add to the evening’s atmosphere with a performance by Gravity Parade, a high-energy cover band known for its mix of rock, pop, and popular hits. Attendees can also explore local artists’ work, browse local vendors, and enjoy free giveaways while supplies last. With art and entertainment around every corner, the event offers something for art enthusiasts, families, and anyone looking to spend a Friday evening enjoying downtown Sarasota.
“Beyond the Canvas showcases the creativity and talent that make Sarasota’s arts community so special,” said JT Grano, President of Next-Mark & Fresh Fridays Event Organizer. “We’re excited to bring residents and visitors together for an evening that celebrates local artists, highlights emerging talent and invites everyone to experience downtown Sarasota in a new way with each event.”
Each event offers a different theme and atmosphere while maintaining the series’ focus on bringing people downtown to connect, discover, and enjoy all that Sarasota has to offer. Beyond the Canvas celebrates the artists, students, and creative community that contribute to Sarasota’s cultural identity.
The community is invited to mark their calendars for Friday, November 6, and join Fresh Fridays for an evening of art, music and downtown fun.
