Sarasota, FL: Neighbors by Ring, the popular mobile app for doorbells and security cameras, is now among the many communication tools utilized by the City of Sarasota for community outreach and notifications.

Neighbors is a social networking platform that allows users to connect with their community. The Neighbors app is a free standalone app available to anyone whether or not they are a Ring customer.

Through its verified Neighbors account, the City of Sarasota will share important community notices, including critical information during hurricane season.

“The Neighbors app is an additional outreach tool,” said Communications General Manager Jan Thornburg. “We worked directly with Ring to ensure we would have a verified account in place and ready to launch before hurricane season. We’ll be able to cast a wider net to connect with more residents, which will be particularly beneficial during an emergency, like an impending hurricane.”

The verified Neighbors account was launched in conjunction with Hurricane Preparedness Week observed May 4-10.

The Neighbors app can be downloaded through the Apple App Store or Google Play. It also is available within the Ring app.
