Two Wi-Fi transmitter boxes at Arlington Park and Aquatic Complex have been enhanced with public art. The boxes were installed as part of the City of Sarasota’s Free Wi-Fi in the Park program. The project introduces artwork to park infrastructure while reinforcing themes of connectivity, nature, and community.

Local artist Jennifer Geiger, who has extensive experience creating utility box wraps across the country, designed two original artworks for the site. Camo Bunnies features playful blue and purple bunnies nestled among flowers, butterflies, and tropical foliage, with subtle Wi-Fi motifs woven into the composition. Wild and Wonderful draws inspiration from the surrounding park landscape, incorporating native flora and fauna such as herons, dragonflies, and oak trees, again integrating Wi-Fi symbols as a recurring visual element.

Developed in partnership with the City’s Parks and Recreation Department, the designs were created to blend into the park setting while adding moments of visual interest and discovery. Installation is planned for later this month, January 2026. If successful, this pilot project may serve as a model for expanding public art to additional Free Wi-Fi in the Park locations throughout the city, with opportunities to involve students or other community groups in future installations.

Camo Bunnies

"Camo Bunnies" transforms this Arlington Park utility box into a playful scene where art and technology meet. Using the universal WiFi symbol as its backdrop, the design features blue and purple bunnies frolicking in a meadow of flowers and butterflies. Each bunny wears a whimsical flower hat, blending beautifully with vibrant pink and red bougainvillea, tropical leaves, and colorful butterflies that surround them. The green background incorporates subtle WiFi patterns, allowing the bunnies to "camouflage" with coordinated symbols while still standing out in their joyful poses. This motif continues seamlessly across all sides of the box, creating a flowing, immersive design.

Cheerful and imaginative, "Camo Bunnies" invites viewers of all ages to pause, smile, and enjoy a delightful piece of public art.

Wild and Wonderful

"Wild and Wonderful" celebrates the beauty of Arlington Park with a vibrant, nature-inspired design. Two large dragonflies, graceful white herons, and bright yellow butterflies come to life among the park's oak trees, Spanish moss, bougainvillea, and tall meadow grasses. The familiar green WiFi symbol forms the background, blending the creatures into their surroundings while adding a playful nod to connection and camouflage. The artwork wraps seamlessly around the entire utility box, so there's always something new to discover from every angle.

With its bold colors and lively details, "Wild and Wonderful" brings a joyful reminder of the park's rich wildlife and invites visitors of all ages to pause and enjoy art in the everyday.
