Jennifer Jorgensen was selected as the Interim City Manager by the Sarasota City Commission on February 10, 2025, and will serve in the position until the arrival of Karie Friling, the new City Manager. Jennifer has over 15 years of leadership and legal experience in government, corporate affairs, and legislative advocacy. As Interim City Manager, Jennifer provides steady leadership and operational continuity for the City of Sarasota during this transition period.
Jennifer also serves as the City’s Director of Governmental Affairs, where she leads federal and state legislative strategies and provides executive oversight for the Purchasing, Special Events, and Grants divisions. Her background includes management roles at The Walt Disney Company, where she oversaw global vendor strategies and multi-million-dollar contract negotiations for the Disney Institute and technology sectors.
Earlier in her career, Jennifer served as Legal Counsel for the Nebraska Association of School Boards, where she was a registered lobbyist and successfully drafted state legislation. She holds a Juris Doctor (with Distinction) from the University of Nebraska College of Law and a B.A. from the University of Minnesota. A licensed attorney, Jennifer is recognized for her ability to navigate complex regulatory environments while fostering strong relationships with the City Commission, staff, and the Sarasota community.
