General Information

The City of Sarasota Parking Division operates three (3) public parking facilities that are both centrally located in downtown and easy to use. With over 1,300 covered parking spaces please consider using either the State Street, Palm Avenue, or 2nd Street/Whole Food's parking garage when visiting downtown. During busy periods and big events, there may be a pay on entry charge of $5 to help defray the expenses associated with periods of high volume parking (see information above).

The City reserves the right to activate "pay on entry", or "Special Event" parking when deemed necessary and without notice.

Permits

Permits may be purchased by local employees to park and exceed the time limits, and are valid Monday - Friday from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.

Residents

Downtown residents located within 1,000 feet may purchase an overnight residential parking permit allowing the same privileges, that includes parking overnight.

Public Parking

Please comply with all posted signs and city ordinances, including No Back-in parking.

Parking Rates

First 3 hours complimentary parking

$3.00 for hours 3-4, then

$1.00 for each hour thereafter or part there of up to $23.00 daily

State Street Garage

State Street Garage 1538 State Street

The State Street Parking garage is open and provides over 400 parking spaces for the downtown core shopping, dining and business. Handicap parking is located next to the elevators on each parking level. Parking spaces are located on levels 2 through 6, with motorcycle and bicycle parking on the ground floor. There are four (4) electric vehicle charging stations located on level 2.

The City has implemented time restrictions in the garage in order to provide improved accessibility and quicker access to the businesses in the area. Anyone in need of additional time is asked to contact the Parking Office at 954-7057 for more assistance.

  • Ground Level: 2 Hours

The Palm Avenue Garage

Parking Operations 1289 North Palm Avenue

Garage parking is available at the award-winning Palm Avenue Garage, which is located one block from Main Street on North Palm Avenue, only steps away from 5 points intersection in downtown. The garage will park 729 vehicles, and has handicap parking located each floor close to the elevators. The Palm Avenue parking garage is a perfect location to park for short or long term stays in downtown. There are four (4) electric vehicle charging stations located on level 1.

The 2nd Street Garage at Whole Foods

The 2nd Street Garage is located between First and Second Street, directly across from Whole Foods. Ground floor parking is intended for customers of Whole Foods, while the second and third level of the garage are open to the public (except where posted). The public parking access ramp is located on Second Street, near the corner of Central Ave.

There are time restrictions in the facility which the City Parking Division monitors and issues citation for time violations. The time restrictions are as follows:

  • Ground Level: 2 Hours
  • Level 2-3: 4 hours
