Welcome to the City of Sarasota Purchasing Division's Vendor Training Program

This program's goals are to:

  1. Increase vendor's understanding of how to do business with the City of Sarasota.
  2. Provide vendors information on how to evaluate solicitations offered by the City of Sarasota.
  3. Provide vendors training on how to complete forms required for the City of Sarasota solicitations.
  4. Provide professional consultants with information on CCNA requirements and the City of Sarasota Consultant Checklist.
  5. Provide vendors with a better understanding of State, federal and local regulation governing public procurement.

Vendor Course Descriptions

Vendor 101 – Doing Business with Public Entities

Cover general requirements to do business with governmental entities.  Includes tips on building relationships with public entities.  Includes information on how to do business with the City of Sarasota.

Vendor 102 – Consultant Requirements

Covers general requirements for engineer, architectural and other consultant to do business with the City of Sarasota.  Covers the City’s Consultant Checklist and requirements for specification layout.  Beginning in January 2018 all new consultant contracts awarded will be required to attend this course before a task order or contract can be awarded.

Vendor 103 – To Bid or Not to Bid

Cover general process to evaluate whether a vendor should submit a bid or not.  Covers the City of Sarasota’s DemandStar registration.  Covers the City’s bid document and breaks down each section of the solicitation document.

Vendor 104 – The RFP

Cover general process to evaluate an RFP and the best way to break it down and respond.  Course gives a brief overview of the City of Sarasota’s Request for Proposals (RFP) process and what to expect during the evaluation of the vendors submittal.

Vendor 105 – City Forms Training

Course covers the forms that submitted with a City of Sarasota solicitation.  Covers detail on what the City requires.  Course covers some of the Terms and Conditions related to the forms.  Covers which forms are requires and forms that maybe optionally marked as N/A.
