Independence Day_2019Sarasota, FL:  City of Sarasota administrative offices will be closed Thursday, July 4, in observance of the Independence Day holiday.

Residential garbage, recycling and yard waste pickup will be delayed one day. Thursday collection will take place on Friday, July 5, and Friday collection will take place on Saturday, July 6.

Hours of operation at recreation and cultural arts facilities will vary:

  • Arlington Park and Aquatic Complex, 2650 Waldemere St., will be closed.

Parking will be free in all City-operated parking garages and metered spaces on July 4, and time restrictions for on-street parking will not be enforced that day.

The City’s new downtown parking program will begin the week of July 8, following the holiday weekend. In addition to new pay stations and traditional pole-mount meters – the same that were installed in the St. Armands Parking District earlier this year - motorists will have the option of utilizing the ParkMobile app to pay from a mobile device. There will also still be hundreds of free parking spaces available downtown.

Frequently Asked Questions about the paid parking program are posted on SarasotaFL.Gov/Parking.
