Sarasota, FL:  The community is invited to learn about the Lemon Avenue Streetscape project during an open house with City of Sarasota staff Monday, Dec.17 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the SRQ Media Studio in the City Hall Annex, 1565 First Street.

Streetscape improvements will stretch from the existing Lemon Ave. mall to Pineapple Avenue and will include replacing the asphalt street with brick pavers, removing the curbs to create a more open, pedestrian-friendly experience and transforming the public area surrounding Paul Thorpe Jr. Park into an attractive, welcoming space.  Click here to see a rendering of the project.

Three exhibits will be on display at open house depicting each of the three sections of the project:  the existing Lemon Ave. mall (between Main Street and First Street), Lemon Ave. corridor linking between the mall and Paul Thorpe Jr. Park and Paul Thorpe Jr. Park to the south at the intersection of Lemon Ave. and Pineapple Ave.

The project design team and City staff will be on hand to explain the plans and answer questions.  A formal presentation will not be given.

Construction is expected to begin in mid-May 2019, shortly after Mother’s Day.  To minimize construction impacts, City staff coordinated closely with downtown merchants and ongoing construction at The Mark.

For more information contact Richard Winder, Project Manager:  941-365-2200 ext. 6302.
