The City of Sarasota, in partnership with Sarasota County and Commuter Services’ Florida Department of Transportation District One Program, will host a free Mobility Day on Thursday, Nov. 1, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Lemon Avenue Mall, located at the corner of First Street and North Lemon Avenue, in downtown Sarasota.
The event will include free bicycle safety kits, plus representatives of local agencies offering information on cycling, transit, trails and more.
The Mobility Week statewide initiative is a grassroots effort to promote awareness of safe and sustainable transportation choices and how those choices can build stronger communities, reduce traffic congestion and improve community health. The promotion is part of the Florida Department of Transportation’s public awareness campaign to encourage commuters to consider alternative modes of transportation, especially for work commutes, which typically involve one vehicle transporting only one person.
