Courses22Sarasota, FL: The City of Sarasota will host a series of community meetings to gather input on future improvements to Bobby Jones Golf Club.

Last year, the City engaged Richard Mandell Golf Architecture, Inc. to develop a comprehensive Golf Course Master Plan for the historic municipal course.

Mandell and his team conducted six walking tours of the three-course, 45-hole club and met with more than 100 golfers, neighbors, residents, City staff and other stakeholders. The resulting master plan includes recommendations and conceptual plans for potential improvements to the course.

Golfers and non-golfers alike will have an opportunity to provide additional input on the course’s future by attending any of these upcoming meetings:

June 13:

  • 2 p.m. at Payne Park Auditorium, 2100 Laurel St.
  • 5:30 p.m. at Robert L. Taylor Community Complex, 1845 John Rivers St.

June 14:

  • 10 a.m. at City Hall, SRQ Media Room, 1565 First St.
  • 5:30 p.m. at City Hall, SRQ Media Room, 1565 First St.

“We pride ourselves on customer service and listening to feedback from our patrons and neighbors,” said Golf Course Manager Sue Martin. “We appreciate all the opinions we’ve heard so far about our historic course, and we look forward to receiving even more community input that will help guide Bobby Jones Golf Club into its next 100 years.”

Bobby Jones Golf Club, founded in 1927 and owned and operated by the City of Sarasota, is a community favorite and has been voted Sarasota’s top public golf club in the Sarasota Herald-Tribune Readers’ Choice Awards 20 times over the past 22 years.
