The Sarasota Police Department will take social media followers on another “virtual ride-along.” On Tuesday, May 28, 2019, beginning at 8 a.m., Twitter users can “ride along” for another ‘Tweet from the Beat’ with the Sarasota Police Department Traffic Unit during day shift as they focus on the importance of buckling up.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 10,076 people who were killed in passenger vehicle crashes in 2017 weren’t buckled up. The Sarasota Police Department is reminding all drivers to slow down, buckle up and drive safely.

Officer Jason Frank will share what he says and does while on patrol through texts, videos, GIFs and various photos. Partnership Policing Communications Coordinator Genevieve Judge will tweet on behalf of Officer Frank. Followers on Twitter @SarasotaPD will be able to ask questions and interact with the Sarasota Police Department while they are on patrol.

How to join the Sarasota Police Department in the virtual ride along: If social media users already have a Twitter account, they can follow the Sarasota Police Department under the handle @SarasotaPD. If social media users are not on Twitter, they can visit www.twitter.com and sign up. It’s quick and free. Once an account is created, users can follow @SarasotaPD

The Sarasota Police Department began ‘Tweet from the Beat’ in November 2013.
